Talisadi Powder + Vanshlochan (Wild Bamboo Resin)
Talisadi powder has been a significant medicinal formulation in Ayurveda for quite some time and is now gaining popularity in the west as well.
Vanshlochan is the main ingredient of talisadi churna. Vanshlochan is collected from a wild species of the bamboo plant. Such species of the bamboo plant discharge a siliceous resin that is known as vanshlochan.
Vanshlochan is known as bamboo silica or bamboo manna in English.
Nowadays, it is extremely difficult to source pure vanshlochan in the market because the quantity that can be extracted is very small. It is also it is very costly. Given its rarity, synthetic vanshlochan is used instead.
Vanshlochan is white-bluish in color, opaque, and found in irregular fragments.

Unlike sitopaladi churna which is only available as a fine powder, talisadi churna is available in tablet form as well. The tablet form is called talisadi guti and is readily available. Guti means tablet.

The talisadi churna used for making tablets must be extremely fine. Instead of adding powdered sugar, sugar syrup is added to talisadi churna for making tablets. The syrup acts as a binding agent for making tablets.1
Traditionally, the powder is made with the help of mortar and pestle. This powder is then filtered through a fine soft cloth. This process of filtering and sifting through a fine cloth is called kapad chaan in Sanskrit.
The talisadi tablets are lighter in nature.1 They are also easier to ingest compared to the churna.
