Ginger is called maha aushadam which means ‘great medicine’ or ‘universal medicine’ in Ayurveda. Ginger is a wonder herb and a very important ingredient in most cuisines around the world. It is commonly used and abundant. It belongs to the zingiber aceae family and the useful part is the rhizome.
Ginger increases the appetite and digests ama or digestive toxins. It plays a major role in diseases of the digestive tract. It is hot in potency and acts as an expectorant. It’s widely used in upper respiratory infections, sore throat, runny nose, sinusitis and asthmatic conditions.
Because it is hot in potency, ginger relieves the body from toxins and kindles the appetite. It is known to improve metabolism or the Dhatu formation cycle. This makes it useful in hypothyroidism, weight loss, PCOS and more. Ginger is also considered an aphrodisiac in Ayurveda due to its Madhura vipaka or sweet taste. Both fresh ginger and dry ginger possess enormous health benefits.

Do you drain the honey from the ginger after 5 day..?
Mine is growing mold…. should I keep it in the fridge?
What about after the initial 4 days? Fridge or counter? Thanks
Do you put this in the fridge after the 4th day?
Hi Marica,
The ginger you use needs to be dried completely (all water removed) before making this. If water is in the ginger the mixture will spoil.
If made correctly it should be shelf stable. Hope that helps.
