Ayurveda and Yoga

Ayurveda is not consumption of pills and capsules.

The vedic system comprises of Yoga and Ayurveda together, it is tragic that two have been separated in the modern world. Because their fundamentals, principles and, practices are all in tandem with each other.

Ayurveda along with Yoga should be viewed as one lifestyle system, essentially for promotion of health and prevention of sickness, rather than a therapeutic system of medicine though they shall help in reversal of early stages of any sickness. To maintain the state of positive health all we need is healthy nutrition complemented with ‘yoga’ as a dependable lifestyle.

The lifestyle should be based on the understanding that human being is a product of the nature and it can flourish the best by following its laws or remaining in harmony with nature. The foremost principle is in following the circadian rhythm as highlighted by the english saying, “Early to bed and early to rise makes one healthy, wealthy and wise”.

Then the observance of ashtanga yoga as a lifestyle commences with ‘yama & niyama‘ followed by an awareness of healthy breathing or pranayama, asanas, dhyana, dharana, and pratihara  leads to state of relaxed awareness or ‘satchitananda‘.
